Hatteras Island begins when you cross the Oregon Inlet Bridge and stretches 50 miles south to Hatteras Inlet.
Along the way you will pass through the seven villages of Rodanthe, Waves, Salvo, Avon, Buxton, Frisco and
Hatteras Village. Eighty five percent of the island is undeveloped federal property and is protected from development.
